Group Director Land & Property
Job Introduction
The NDA is charged with the mission to clean-up the UK’s earliest nuclear sites sustainably, safely,
securely and cost-effectively. We believe that this is both one of the most important, and most challenging, environmental programs in the world. With the incumbent retiring this year, we need to recruit our next Group Land & Property Director (GDLP).
To give some scope and scale to the role, the NDA owns circa 5000 hectares of land and, apart from the 17 Nuclear Licensed Sites (due to increase as we take ownership of EDF’s AGR fleet over the next decade or so), we own agricultural land and buildings, offices, a lake, a lagoon, areas of foreshore, historic gardens, listed buildings, ancient monuments, and nature trails and, in addition to our 18,000+ colleagues, our portfolio is home to otters, bats, natterjack toads, red squirrels, freshwater pearl mussels, and ospreys
The role
Reporting to the Group CFO and managing a sizeable team, the GDLP will lead on all group Land & Property matters and undertake a key, senior leadership role in the NDA Group. As ultimate owner of Strategic Outcome 47, you will be responsible for the furthering the mission to ensure that “All NDA land eventually re-used and re-designated”. This will include:
- Co-creation and progression of the Group Land & Property functional strategy
- Stakeholder management from C-Suite to Community Groups, Operating Companies to devolved administrations, as well as national and local government
- Leading all land and property transactions across the group – including the AGR transfer from EDF
- Developing a group land and property financial and operational reporting framework
- Ensuring that our portfolio is managed in accordance with the Government Functional Standards and our obligations under the Energy Act

The Person
We seek a Land & Property Executive with profound operational, commercial and strategic nous, who can lead and inspire a responsive, customer-focused, land and property function who are committed to delivering the very highest standards. The role requires:
- Chartered membership of RICS
- Successful leadership experience of a complex delivery operation, including a substantial estates and facilities service (energy sector, or a related industry, experience will be highly valued)
- First-class stakeholder management skills, credibility and commercial intelligence
- Comprehensive understanding of land ownership structures, property law, zoning regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
